As you help your child with autism navigate life, you’ll likely work with their school to figure out how your child can learn best in an educational setting.

At Total Spectrum, we work with schools to give students with autism the support they need to succeed. Our school-based ABA therapy maximizes learning opportunities throughout the day to help your child meet their academic, social, and behavioral goals.

Our approach is personalized to each student, family, school, and district. We’re passionate about helping kids and teens overcome the unique challenges that arise in a school setting to reach their full potential.

The school resources available for special needs children can be challenging to navigate. They vary by state and come with a lot of red tape. We’ll help you work through it.

It’s critical to know that children with autism have legal rights and protections. Public schools must make appropriate accommodations for students with special needs, including those with autism, and provide additional services or accommodations.

ABA In School

School services commonly include::

	Individual support For students diagnosed on the autism spectrum, one-on-one support at school is possible using ABA therapy. This type of intervention provides personalized attention from a behavior technician to improve communication, socialization, and academic skills.
	Functional behavior assessments (FBAs) Some students with autism face academic challenges because of behavior issues. A functional behavior assessment (FBA) helps schools determine the cause of these behaviors. This assessment supports writing intervention plans to address specific behaviors.

Consulting services, including individualized education plan (IEP) team support
An individualized education plan (IEP) is a written document that outlines a child’s special education plan and goals for the school year. The IEP process can be intimidating for parents and caregivers. Some schools offer consulting services, though, that help families navigate the process. We’ll be part of your support team.

Training for teachers, parents, caregivers, and families
Special needs students, including those with autism, benefit from specialized training programs offered by schools. Reach out to your school or school district to find out what other school resources are available in your area that can help set your child on the path to success.
