Our Story

Total Spectrum is proud to offer kids and families the highest level of care.

With autism rates rising, our founders saw a need for compassionate, high-quality services in the Midwest. They created Total Spectrum in 2014 to give families like yours the top-level care you deserve.

Today, Total Spectrum uses evidence-based applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to help kids and young adults with autism find success. Our goal is to empower your child to build the skills needed to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Total Spectrum is part of LEARN Behavioral, a national organization dedicated to nurturing potential in children, teens, and young adults with autism.

We support families from day one. We consider you — as parents and caregivers — your child’s first and most important teacher. We partner with you to create an environment where you and your child can thrive.

Melissa Furman, MA, BCBA, LBA

“Nothing excites me more than continuing to provide the highest quality of care and support to each and every family we serve in this community. Receiving phone calls and text messages from families sharing progress at home and at school gives me the greatest sense of satisfaction.”

Melissa Furman works as the clinical director for Total Spectrum in West Michigan. Her interest in behavior analysis started in an introductory ABA class at James Madison University, where she attended college and graduate school. After this course, Melissa took a position as a graduate assistant at the Inter-Professional Autism Clinic and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Clinic, where her passion for working with children with disabilities continued to blossom. She went on to earn a master’s degree in psychological sciences, with a concentration in behavior analysis.
